Add a dog to your account

Use this flow when Pedigree Search does not contain the correct dog. The Add Dog workspace opens a four-step drawer and saves a private draft after you start entering details. Starting from the first-dog workspace automatically selects Public pedigree + My account, so the new record is created and connected to My Dogs in the same guided flow.

Register a dog imported from another country

For an imported-dog registration, choose a dog from the searchable My Dogs menu or enter the identity manually. Dogs already in the managing parent organization's pedigree book are not offered for another import request.

Check the breed, dog name, sex, country of origin, and 15-digit microchip number before continuing. The microchip prevents the same registration from being submitted twice to the same parent organization. If a saved dog is missing a required detail, the form keeps you on the first step and shows what needs attention; the draft remains saved.

Nothing changes while the request is a draft or under review. After the organization approves the registration, the approved dog appears in My Dogs automatically.

Before creating a new record

Search for the dog first. Try its registered name, kennel name, registration details, or close spelling variants. This helps prevent duplicate pedigree records.

Follow the four steps

  1. Identify the dog — enter the microchip first, then the official name, breed, sex, birth date, and color. Dogg checks a complete 15-digit chip before you continue.
  2. Parents — find the sire and dam in Dogg.dog when they are known.
  3. Details & files — add registration and ownership details and upload pedigree or supporting documents.
  4. Review — check the full record and create the dog.

The step controls are clickable. Save for later closes the drawer after the latest changes are saved.

Continue a saved draft

Open Add Dog to see dogs that are waiting for completion. The most recently updated draft appears first, with its current step, progress, and last-saved time. Choose Continue to resume it, or Add a new dog to start a separate record. Dogg does not create an empty draft merely because you opened the drawer.

While completing a dog, choose Your drafts in the drawer header to save your work and return to the draft list. A draft can be deleted before it is converted; deleting a draft never deletes an existing dog. After a dog is created, it leaves the draft list and its dog record cannot be deleted from this draft hub.

Choose how you will use the dog

  • My dog is for a dog you own or manage. It creates the public pedigree record and connects the dog to My Dogs.
  • Pedigree record only is for an ancestor or reference dog you do not manage. It creates the shared pedigree record without adding the dog to My Dogs.

When you start from My Personal Account → Find or connect your first dog, Dogg selects the second mode for you and returns to your personal workspace after a successful connection.

Follow the first-dog guide

The onboarding journey keeps a visible three-step progress guide across search, record confirmation, and the final add form. On the final form, choose Show me the next required field to reveal and focus the next missing item. When every required item is complete, the same coach action takes you to Create and add to My Dogs.

When you choose My dog, the 15-digit microchip, kennel, breeder, and registration details are required. The chip counter and progress bar show whether all 15 digits have been entered. A pedigree-only record may omit a microchip when it is genuinely unknown.

An unfinished chip number is saved with the private draft as you type. Dogg checks for an existing dog only when all 15 digits are present, and final creation still requires the complete chip for My dog.

Documents and saving

PDF, JPG, and PNG documents up to 25 MB can be uploaded. Each file is checked before it is attached. The drawer shows whether a file is uploading, being checked, complete, or failed. Closing the drawer never silently discards unsaved changes.

If Dogg finds a possible duplicate

Review the matching record rather than creating another one. A known microchip conflict stops the wizard before later pedigree work. If the record is already privately owned or managed by an organization, Dogg does not reveal private owner details and keeps the existing ownership boundary.

What remains private

Personal ownership and identification details used by the connection workflow are not presented as public dog-profile information. Drafts and their files are visible only to the signed-in owner.
