Events

Use the Events page to find published shows and club activities without having to understand the organization’s internal event setup.

Edit messages for an imported event

When an imported event has an active Dogg registration form, use Edit emails in the active-form panel to customize the owner confirmation, organizer notification, and critique delivery messages. Choose the template and language, edit its subject and message, then save the email templates. The critique sheet remains attached automatically to critique delivery emails.

Saved templates belong to the event and are shared by all authorized event managers. Using defaults restores Dogg's standard messages for all three template types.

Each Manage show section has its own address. Opening Details, People, Critiques, Registration, Emails, or Exports updates the page URL, so an authorized manager can bookmark the section or copy its address to another authorized manager. The selected email purpose and language are included when the Emails section is open. Reloading the page, or using the browser Back and Forward controls, restores the same section and email view; the link never grants event access by itself.

Choose the right view

  • For you puts open, complete, breed-relevant events first when Dogg knows the breeds connected to your account.
  • Open for entry shows events that currently accept registrations.
  • Upcoming shows future published events whether registration is open or not.
  • My entries keeps submitted registrations and saved entry drafts together. Sign in is required.
  • Saved contains events saved on the current device. Saving an event here does not register a dog or send information to an organization.
  • Past lets you look up completed events without mixing them into the default discovery list.

Search and filters

Search by event, organizer, or location. Registration status, event type, and date-range filters can be combined. Filters are reflected in the page URL, so a filtered view can be bookmarked or shared.

On a phone, filters open in a dedicated drawer. Dogg uses its own accessible dropdown controls rather than browser-native select menus.

Understand an event card

Each card shows:

  • registration state and event type;
  • date, location, organizer, and entry deadline;
  • whether the event matches breeds connected to your account;
  • whether your registration is submitted or still a draft;
  • a single primary next action.

Use Save to keep an event on the current device, Calendar to open a calendar draft, Share to share or copy the event link, and Directions to open the event location in a map.

Event reminders

Signed-in users can receive Dogg notifications for relevant published events, approaching entry deadlines, unfinished entry drafts, and confirmed registrations. Delivery channels and categories are managed under Settings → Notifications.

Saving an event on the Events page is a device-local shortcut. It does not by itself subscribe you to a new notification category.

Manage an event on a phone

An authorized temporary-show owner or manager can select Manage event on phone from the desktop critique-management page. Dogg.dog creates a secure scoped link that can be shared, copied, or scanned as a QR code.

  • The link expires after 12 hours if it has not been opened. After the first successful use, it can reconnect in the newest browser during its 24-hour scoped access window.
  • The phone opens on the complete event dog list. Select a dog to open its critique drawer, take required photos, save it, mark the dog not present, print, or email the finished critique.
  • The phone receives limited access to this event's critique roster, critiques, current result status, required private photo evidence, printing, and critique delivery for up to 24 hours. It can use the dedicated Not present action, but it does not add a separate placement, award, or result notes editor that is absent from desktop critique management.
  • The phone is not signed in to the full Dogg.dog account. Settings, contacts, imports, bulk email, exports, and other events remain locked.
  • Saves and photo activity are attributed to a limited quick-access capability session in the event audit trail, not presented as an identified phone login.
  • Removing the manager who created the link immediately invalidates sessions created from that manager's links.
  • Selecting Revoke phone access on desktop ends all active phone sessions for this temporary show.
  • If a link expires, is already used, or was replaced, create a new one on the desktop critique page.

The first secure-link exchange needs an internet connection. After the event workspace has loaded once, the roster and critique drawers can be reopened during a connection loss, including after reloading the page. Critique changes, not-present actions, photos, and email requests are saved on that device with a visible pending count. Printing remains available immediately. When the connection returns, Dogg.dog synchronizes the pending actions in order. Keep the phone session open until the pending count reaches zero; the session cannot be ended while unsynchronized work remains.

When the phone and desktop have the same dog open, critique fields update live in both places through an authenticated WebSocket. A green live-collaboration indicator confirms the connection. If it changes to reconnecting, continue typing: the device keeps its offline draft and reconnects automatically. A field that is actively being edited, or has an unsaved local change, is never overwritten by a remote update.

Imported-event spreadsheets can map dog color and owner address in addition to the core dog, registration, and owner contact fields. In the critique template designer, choose Dog color or Owner address as an autofill data source; older imports can use the retained original row data when these values were present in the upload. Owner address is private contact data and only appears in generated critique HTML/PDF when an authorized template designer explicitly adds that source.

Give each critique template a clear name before saving it. When Save as reusable template for future events is enabled, the template appears in the existing-template list while setting up another imported event; selecting it loads its fields and layout, and saving creates the event's own template copy.

When an authorized owner duplicates a temporary event, the copy receives a new retention deadline. Dogg.dog preserves the selected retention window but counts it from the later of the copy date or the event date; it never reuses the source event's absolute deletion date. After the deadline, protected event management and QR/photo actions close together.

Public event browsing does not require sign-in. Dogg.dog asks you to sign in only when you start an account-specific action, such as accessing your event tickets or an assigned event scanner. After authentication, you return to the page or action you originally requested.

Manage organization events

Authorized organization and club event managers work from one Events entry in the organization workspace. The Events command center keeps creation, organization-wide settings, participation health, and each event's operational drawer together instead of repeating those actions in the sidebar.

  • Use the single Create event action in the page header, then choose the setup that matches the event:
    • Full event management keeps registrations, breeds, judges, pricing, payments, verification, schedules, and results together in Dogg.
    • Quick event setup creates a lightweight workspace, then lets the organizer import existing event data or build a one-time registration form. The separate Import event page action is no longer shown, so organizers make one clear choice before either workflow begins. Full event management opens the guided creation drawer. Before an organization creates its first event, it must save at least one Event setup profile. Dogg opens Event settings and returns to creation after the profile is saved. Existing drafts remain available for recovery. The progress panel keeps the current step visible; there is no separate advanced creation mode. Moving to another step automatically saves the draft before the drawer advances. A failed save keeps the current step open, and closing with newer unsaved changes asks for confirmation. Save as draft remains available as a manual checkpoint. Drafts are private, cannot accept entries, and open back at the saved step when Continue draft is selected. An administrator using the read-only View as user support session can inspect every draft step without triggering autosave. Saving and creating remain blocked until the administrator returns to a normal authorized account session.
  • In the final review step, write the event description in the selected language before using organization AI. Polish improves that text while preserving its facts and intent; Auto-translate fills only empty description languages. Existing manual translations are never replaced. Polishing uses one organization AI credit, while translation uses one credit per missing target language. After polishing, Undo polish restores the organizer's original text. Organization AI is available from the Club 100 plan and remains disabled during read-only impersonation.
  • Use Event settings beside it for settings that apply to every event managed by the active organization. The drawer identifies the organization and warns that the change is not limited to the event currently open.
  • Save repeatable timezone, reusable locations, veterinary, pricing, other-competition pricing, and event-flag defaults as a named Event setup profile. Mark one profile as the organization default when it should prefill future events. Profiles are created, edited, selected, and removed inside Event settings; existing events are not changed when a profile is edited or removed. Event name, dates, judges, and entry scope are always confirmed for each new event instead of being copied silently. A selected profile keeps repeatable fields out of the main flow unless Override profile defaults is opened for that event.
  • A profile can hold several reusable event locations. Each location has a name and a Google Places-backed address and can be edited or removed in Event settings. During event creation, select a saved location or add a one-off location for that event.
  • Critique/poster delivery and class availability live in the selected setup profile only; they are not repeated in a second settings surface. The guided flow shows breed variants only after their breed is selected and initially includes every variant of a newly selected breed.
  • In Judges and pricing, choose from the complete organization judge list and remove a selection before continuing if needed. Choose either Free or one or more saved pricing-profile periods. The periods must cover the full event-specific entry window without overlaps or gaps. Pricing periods use whole calendar days: when one period ends, the next starts automatically on the following day. Entry opening and closing retain their precise times.
  • Search by event or organization name. Events are shown by event date from newest to oldest, with active and upcoming events visually separated from completed events.
  • Each event row shows Missing verification beneath its owner count. Select it to open only the dogs in that event whose required entry-verification details are incomplete. Use the registration manager from that drawer to review the affected entries.

The focused event queue does not include unrelated dogs from the organization's general pedigree-verification queue. Changing workspace changes the organization context, and existing event permissions continue to control both the page and its APIs.

Collect entries with a Dogg.dog form

When an imported event uses a Dogg.dog registration form, its setup follows a dedicated workflow:

  1. Configure form — choose fields from a previous event and publish the form.
  2. Collect registrations — share the form link and monitor the live registration count.
  3. Review registrations — check submitted dog, owner, and custom-field answers for missing information.
  4. Generate catalog numbers — assign numbers only after registrations have been reviewed.
  5. Continue to the critique template and event-management tools.

The form title follows the event name automatically unless a manager enters an optional custom title. The review step is informational: it highlights incomplete information but does not approve, reject, or delete a registration.

When a submission contains a missing or invalid value, Dogg marks the exact field, moves it into view, and places keyboard focus on its control. After a successful submission, the page shows the assigned catalog number when one is available. Dogg sends a confirmation to the dog owner's supplied email address and a separate new-entry notice to the active event organizers. The entry stays saved if either email service is temporarily unavailable; the confirmation panel reports the delayed notification without asking the owner to submit the same dog again.

You do not need to wait for the first registration to finish setting up the event. Review and catalog-numbering show guided empty states, and you can continue directly to designing and previewing the critique form. Registration-dependent actions become available automatically as entries arrive.

Verify an imported-event critique

Organization event managers can add a Verification QR element to an imported event's critique template. Each finalized critique then receives its own hard-to-guess public verification link.

  1. Open the imported event and select Critique form and PDF layout.
  2. Add Verification QR from the element library.
  3. Move or resize it and edit its caption if needed.
  4. Save the template and finalize the critique before exporting it.

Only one verification QR can be placed in a template. Draft critiques do not have a working public link. Removing the element stops it appearing in future exports; it does not invalidate copies that were already printed.

Scanning the QR opens the critique in the saved layout without requiring an account. The public copy keeps the dog's public show details, results, and critique text. It hides owner contact details, addresses, payment information, notes, and microchip values. The verification page is excluded from search-engine indexing and is not cached.

The page reflects the current finalized record; it is a verification view, not a cryptographic snapshot of an older version. Contact an administrator if an already printed verification link must be revoked.

Capture dog and chip-reader photos

The critique template designer includes two private evidence elements:

  • Dog picture for a current photo of the dog.
  • Chip number picture for a readable photo of the microchip reader display.

Each element can be required or optional. When it is required, the event manager cannot finalize that dog's critique until the photo is saved. The Show captured photo setting controls whether authorized event managers see the thumbnail in critique management; it never makes the image public.

On a phone or tablet, choose Take photo to open the device camera. An existing JPEG, PNG, or WebP image can also be selected. The mobile workflow does not show a QR handoff because the camera is already on the current device. When managing critiques from a desktop, choose Use phone with QR, then scan the code with a phone to open a minimal capture page for that catalog number.

QR capture links are short-lived and work once. Creating a new QR immediately revokes the previous unused link. After a successful upload, the same QR cannot be opened or used again. The desktop photo card refreshes automatically after the phone finishes uploading.

Photos are stored privately and can be viewed only by an authorized temporary show or linked-organization event manager. Printed critiques, HTML exports, emailed critiques, and PDFs contain only the text Photo captured and saved; the image itself is never embedded. Photo evidence follows the temporary show's retention policy. An authorized manager can choose Remove photo, confirm the action, and then take a replacement. Removing a required photo reopens a finalized critique as a draft so it cannot remain finalized without its required evidence. The removed file stays in private event retention with an audit tombstone until the event's normal retention cleanup; it is not shown on the critique.

On mobile, critique management starts with compact dog cards that prioritize the dog name, breed, catalog number, and clear status. Selecting a dog opens a full-screen critique workspace with the dog facts, critique fields, photo evidence, and finalization controls. Previous and next controls beside the catalog number move directly between dogs. The slim sticky event bar shows the event, connection state, and progress; open Controls for judge, sync, export, and ring actions. The sliders button in the dog workspace returns to those event controls without leaving critique management. A safe-area-aware bottom dock keeps Save, Not present, Print, and Email on one row. Use Catalog to return to the event-day list.
